This grill plate is laser-cut from a single piece of 6 mm thick black steel. It is designed for use with a fire basket. To protect the griddle from rust, it is important to season it before use. This also ensures that food doesn't stick later and makes cleaning the griddle easier.

BURNING IN STEP BY STEP:

1. Light the fire in the fire basket and wait until it is burning evenly. In the meantime, clean the grill plate on both sides with a kitchen towel.
2. Once the fire is lit, place the grill plate on the fire basket and wait a few minutes until the grill plate is hot.
3. Now, spread the oil evenly over the plate using a kitchen towel. Sunflower oil, rapeseed oil, or another high-heat oil is best. Wear heat-resistant gloves while doing this.
4. After a short time, the fire plate will warp in one direction. It is now sufficiently heated. The warping is particularly noticeable near the center opening. If it is not visible to the naked eye, you can place a straight rod or a wooden board across the plate.
5. It is important that the plate curves downwards towards the fire basket. If it curves upwards, it must be turned immediately. Ideally, this should be done by two people wearing fireproof gloves.
6. Once the grill plate is correctly positioned on the fire pit, heat it thoroughly for an extended period. Rub it with oil frequently during this time. You can spread the oil evenly using a spatula, for example. Note: If oil gets into the fire, a flare-up may occur.
7. The patina will develop after a short time. First in the center of the griddle, then it will spread towards the edges. Keep adding wood through the center opening to maintain a consistently high temperature. Once the patina has developed evenly and is no longer changing, the seasoning process is complete and you can grill your first food on your griddle.
